Liberia: LNP Denies Chicken Sexual Abuse In Saclepea

IPNEWS:   The Liberia National Police (LNP) has dismissed reports of news from Nimba County claiming a 26-year-old man was arrested in Saclepea for allegedly sexually abusing two chickens.

Speaking to Journalists Monday, Police Spokesperson Sam Collins said the incident was misrepresented.

According to the LNP, the suspect was arrested for allegedly stealing the chickens and was later beaten by a mob after being apprehended. Police say there is no record of sexual abuse linked to the case.

The suspect remains in custody as investigations continue, while authorities are also probing the mob-action. However, Journalists visiting the scene said police appear to have reversed an earlier account given by the local detachment in Saclepea.

The reported adds that several community members maintained that the chickens were sexually abused.

In a video footage posted by Spoon News earlier, community members can be heard accusing the suspect of “raping” the chickens.
