Deputy Managing Director for Operations at the Liberia Airport Authority (LAA/RIA), Egon (or Mark) Kuiah, has denied ever being arrested by state security as alleged by social media post.
Speaking to the authoritative Independent Probe Newspaper Saturday morning, Mr. Kuiah, wonders why would some Liberians take on destroying others in the name of politics.
“Ive lived a simple and honest life and there’s no way I would be involved with such. My upbringing does not permit me. Ive worked here and struggled without ever being indicted for corruption of any of a sort and do not know where all these rumors come from.” Mark Kuiah.
Late Friday, swirling local media reports emerged claiming that Mr. Mark Kuaih was picked up and taken into custody regarding ongoing probe into the massive $317 million cocaine seizure in Duazon, Liberia.
Liberian joint security and the Liberia National Police intercepted 3,971 kilograms of cocaine valued at approximately US$317 million in Duazon, Margibi County, near the Roberts International Airport highway.
Social media and radio talk shows claimed the airport operations executive was arrested because a local fishing vessel allegedly tied to him was supposedly used to move the narcotics from the sea to the mainland.
While rumors circulated that he was picked up by law enforcement, officials and related reports have faced rapid denials and ongoing clarification regarding who is formally under investigation or in custody.
Meanwhile, Liberian authorities have sent suspects linked to a massive $317 million cocaine seizure to the Monrovia Central Prison following a court order from the Paynesville City Court. The July 2026 raid in Duazon yielded 3,971 kg of processed cocaine.
The suspects were formally charged and held without bail due to the non-bailable nature of the offenses under Liberian law.
The suspects include a Serbian citizen and a dual Spanish-Colombian national, including several Liberian suspects.
