IPNEWS: ArcelorMittal Liberia (AML) has reaffirmed its commitment to community development as its CEO and a team of senior company executives joined Government officials and key stakeholders on Monday for a major Community Development Fund (CDF) Stakeholders Consultation convened by the Ministry of Mines and Energy.
The high-level consultation focused on developing a clear roadmap for the establishment and operationalization of the new Community Development Fund under the amended Mineral Development Agreement (MDA).
The meeting brought together representatives from relevant government ministries and agencies, county leadership, community stakeholders, and ArcelorMittal Liberia to discuss critical steps toward making the Fund fully operational.
Key discussions centered on establishing the Community Development Committee, developing transparent governance procedures, ensuring appropriate stakeholder representation, and preparing for the Fund’s formal launch by December 2026.
The CDF represents an important mechanism for advancing socioeconomic development in concession-area and adjacent communities across Nimba, Bong, and Grand Bassa Counties.
Through the Fund, communities are expected to benefit from more structured investments and development projects designed to respond to local priorities and improve livelihoods.
The initiative also strengthens collaboration among the Government, communities, and ArcelorMittal Liberia in ensuring that communities impacted by mining activities share meaningfully in development opportunities.
ArcelorMittal Liberia remains committed to working closely with the Government of Liberia, county authorities, communities, and other stakeholders to ensure the successful implementation of the Community Development Fund for the lasting benefit of affected communities.
Building stronger communities. Creating opportunities. Advancing development together.
