The Environmental Protection Agency of Liberia (EPA) has officially presented its five-year strategic plan to President Joseph Nyuma Boakai, Sr., setting the stage for a renewed push to strengthen environmental governance and sustainability across the country.

The plan was delivered by EPA Executive Director, Dr. Emmanuel K. Urey Yarkpawolo, who acted on behalf of the Agency’s Senior Management Team, Board of Directors, and Policy Council. It lays out a comprehensive framework to decentralize the Agency’s operations, modernize its systems, and build stronger institutional capacity to regulate and safeguard Liberia’s environment.

President Boakai welcomed the initiative, commending Dr. Yarkpawolo and the EPA staff for their tireless efforts to advance environmental protection. He described the plan as a timely intervention that aligns with his government’s commitment to sustainable development and the protection of Liberia’s natural resources.

The Liberian leader further assured the EPA of his administration’s full backing, pledging to support the implementation of the plan so that the Agency can deliver on its mandate. According to him, safeguarding the environment is not only about protecting ecosystems but also about ensuring that future generations inherit a healthier, safer, and more sustainable Liberi
