—Setup various committees for Nationwide Homecoming Program
The ruling Unity Party says it is ready to hold on to power for the next 200 years as the first political party in Liberia’s political history to make a comeback after defeat.
Addressing partisans of the Unity PARTY Wednesday, October 14 at the party’s National Headquarters on Broad Street, Chairman Luther Tarpeh, stated that the History of Unity Party has been good as a political institution making the people of Liberia realized that the United Party has what it takes to move the Liberia to the trajectory of development and well-being of the citizens.
“Our party is the only party, the only political institution in the history of Liberia that has left power and returned. That’s not true. That may mean to take you down through the historical lane.
The True Wing Party ruled Liberia for 133 years, And when their time ended, they never came back. We had military rule, and later returned to multi-party democracy under the National Democratic Party of Liberia, led by former President Samuel K. Doe, who ruled the country, And it never came back.
Then the United Party took over a devastating failed state after the Civil War and turned things around and made our nation to be respected in the international space once again. And we ruled the country for 12 years.
In 2017, we lost the election. But our party sided with peace. And we had a democratic party space and embraced peaceful transition and accepted the will of the Liberian people.
At that time, everyone thought the United Party had died. They thought the Unity Party would be like other ruling parties when the left power never came back. But the Unity Party is a resilient party. Through our resilience and strategic alignment and political maturity, we were able to catapult ourselves to state power after six years. This is a clear indication that God has been good to the United Party. And that the Liberian people have demonstrated that it is the Unity Party that has the best platform.”Rev. Tarpeh declared.
He stated that the Unity Party will seek Peace that I can move Liberia in a trajectory of love, as it is crystal clear that the Liberian people still have a long way to go with the Unity Party.
He rallied partisans of the Unity Party that ‘it is time to build a great party that will serve the Liberian people for the next 200 years’.
Rev. Tarpeh: “We as a party have absolute confidence in the vision of His Excellency, who was brought to national limelight to rescue Liberia from our traditional enemies that have kept this country from progressing. Therefore, there is no better time than now to build a strong unity party. We as a party and leadership have agreed that this coming December 6th 2025 we are going to acquire great things for our party. It is time to build visible long-lasting Unity Party all across the Republic of Liberia, and a Strong infrastructure for this great party.
It is time to increase the membership of the United Party. I believe the country has 5 million. We are going to take 4 million.
It calls not to be accused of being selfish . We are getting 1 million dollars. It is upon this backdrop that I as the National Chairman I stand before you fellow Liberians how does that hold me at all? To lead this country doing what it can control political power.
We need to have a strong political leadership. We are going to be moving on what we call positioning the Unity Party for long-term political vibrancy. Strategic policy reform and infrastructure development and membership draft.”
