===Calls for Greater Involvement of PAL To PUL Activities
Press Union of Liberia President, Julius K. Kanubahm has welcome the election of the New Leadership of the Publishers Association of Liberia (PAL).
Speaking at the induction ceremonies at the Monrovia city hall Saaturday evening, Mr. Kanubahn stated that with the induction of the newly elected officials of PAL, Collectively, PAL and PUL Including other auxiliaries of the Union are in full compliance with the democratic progress longed for.
“The PUL, as many of you might know, is the umbrella organization of professional Liberian journalists and media institutions, formed on September 30, 1960.
In a few weeks the PUL will celebrate its 61st Anniversary.
In the weeks leading up to the anniversary of the Union, we have been witnessing important developments in the journalism and media community: the publishers association conducted a free, fair and transparent election; followed by the conduct another free, fair and transparent election in the Legislative Press Pool (LEGISPOOL) just on yesterday – Friday, 29th August.
In between the elections of the publishers Association and the Legislative Press Pool, the Union took a historic journey by relocating to a new Head Office benefiting of the Union.
These developments show that the journalism and media community of Liberia is advancing both democratically and developmentally.
The Publishers Association undertook its elections, I should say, with the full support of the PUL. In fact, the PUL seconded two of its members of credibility and integrity to conduct a credible election in the PAL. I wish to, on behalf of the Union, extend our profound thanks and appreciation to Mr Edwin Clarke and Ms Victoria Wesseh for representing the PUL on the elections committee of the PUL chaired by the Elder Carlton Boah, publisher of the InProfile Daily.” Mr. Julius K. Kanubahm noted.
