IPNEWS: The Office of the President of the Republic of Liberia has officially signed a Performance Contract with the Independent National Commission on Human Rights – INCHR covering the period January 1, 2026, to December 31, 2026.
The agreement forms part of the Government of Liberia’s ongoing efforts to strengthen accountability, improve institutional performance, and promote effective service delivery across public institutions.
The Performance Contract outlines key targets, priorities, and expected deliverables to be achieved by the Independent National Commission on Human Rights during the 2026 fiscal year. It also establishes a framework for monitoring and evaluating the Commission’s performance in carrying out its mandate.
The Independent National Commission on Human Rights plays a critical role in promoting and protecting human rights in Liberia through public education, investigations into alleged human rights violations, advocacy, and collaboration with national and international stakeholders.
Government officials say the signing of the contract reflects the administration’s commitment to results-based management and ensuring that public institutions operate with transparency, efficiency, and measurable outcomes.
Under the agreement, the Commission is expected to implement programs and activities aimed at strengthening the protection of human rights, enhancing public awareness of fundamental freedoms, and advancing Liberia’s national and international human rights obligations.
The performance period will run from January 1, 2026, through December 31, 2026, after which an assessment is expected to be conducted to evaluate the institution’s achievements against the agreed benchmarks and objectives.
The initiative is part of a broader government strategy designed to improve public sector performance and reinforce institutional accountability in support of national development goals.
