Liberia: President Boakai Among Five African Leaders Invited by U.S. President Donald Trump for High-Level Summit in Washington

Liberian President Joseph N. Boakai is among five African heads of state invited to attend a high-level summit hosted by U.S. President Donald J. Trump in Washington, D.C., from July 9 to 11, 2025, Report Liberia has confirmed.

The summit is expected to focus on strengthening U.S.-Africa relations, enhancing trade and investment opportunities, promoting democratic governance, and advancing regional security cooperation.

Sources familiar with the summit’s planning say President Boakai’s invitation underscores renewed U.S. interest in Liberia’s democratic progress and its strategic role in West Africa. The three-day event will feature closed-door discussions, high-level policy roundtables, and bilateral meetings with American investors and political leaders.

In addition to President Boakai, the list of confirmed invitees reportedly includes the leaders of Kenya, Ghana, Rwanda, and Nigeria—nations considered key diplomatic and economic partners of the United States on the African continent.

While the Executive Mansion has yet to issue an official statement, diplomatic insiders indicate that President Boakai’s team is actively preparing for the trip, which is seen as a major opportunity to boost Liberia’s international profile and attract foreign partnerships.

The summit comes at a pivotal moment for both countries. In the United States, President Trump’s administration is seeking to redefine its Africa policy in the context of growing global competition. In Liberia, President Boakai is navigating rising public pressure amid economic challenges and calls for governance reforms.

Analysts suggest the summit could serve as a strategic platform for President Boakai to reposition Liberia on the global stage and to explore avenues for economic relief, private sector investment, and development cooperation.

Report Liberia will continue to provide updates as more details emerge about the summit and Liberia’s participation.
