—-Christopher Sankolo of Corruption Allegations
IPNEWS: The Liberia Anti-Corruption Commission (LACC) has officially exonerated the suspended Director General of the Liberia Agricultural Commodity Regulatory Authority (LACRA), Christopher D. Sankolo, bringing an end to months of investigation and public speculation that followed his suspension by President Joseph Nyuma Boakai.
The Commission’s decision is documented in a clearance certificate dated January 15, 2026, under case reference number 00591, confirming that Sankolo was investigated for alleged financial misconduct and corruption involving officials of LACRA.
According to the LACC, the investigation did not uncover sufficient evidence to support criminal responsibility or warrant prosecution. The Commission stated that its probe included an extensive examination of financial records, official documents, and other relevant materials, along with a careful evaluation of information gathered throughout the investigative process.
Upon completion of the inquiry, the LACC concluded that there was no probable cause to initiate legal or criminal action against the suspended LACRA Director General.
In a detailed explanation contained in the clearance document, the Commission said a thorough review of the facts and available evidence revealed no legal grounds to continue the case. As a result, no charges were filed, and the matter has been formally closed.
The LACC further clarified that the clearance was issued strictly on the basis of investigative findings and should not be interpreted as an endorsement beyond the scope of the specific allegations examined. It emphasized that the decision is final and binding, noting that all previous clearances connected to the matter have been nullified.
Reaffirming its commitment to professionalism and due process, the Commission stated that the investigation was conducted independently and in line with its statutory mandate to prevent and combat corruption while ensuring fairness for all individuals under investigation.
President Joseph Boakai suspended Sankolo from his position on June 26, 2025, to allow the investigation to proceed without interference.
At the time, the Executive Mansion stressed that the suspension was purely administrative and did not amount to a finding of guilt, underscoring the government’s commitment to transparency, accountability, and institutional integrity.
During Sankolo’s tenure, LACRA was also recognized as one of the top-performing government institutions in the implementation of the Performance Management and Compliance System.
