The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) on Tuesday conducted a capacity-building training for members of its Noise Pollution Task Force, aimed at strengthening enforcement and coordination in addressing noise-related environmental challenges.
Held at the EPA Executive Director’s Conference Room, the training enhanced participants’ technical understanding of the environmental, health, and social impacts of noise pollution. Sessions focused on noise monitoring methods, applicable regulatory standards, compliance requirements, and enforcement procedures in line with Liberia’s national environmental laws and policies.
The exercise brought together key stakeholders, including representatives from the Pollution Control Center (PCC), the Monrovia City Corporation (MCC), the Ministry of Justice (MOJ), the Ministry of Health (MOH), the Liberia Institute of Statistics and Geo-Information Services (LISGIS), and other municipal institutions.
Through technical presentations and interactive discussions, participants explored practical approaches to improving inter-agency coordination, strengthening response mechanisms, and advancing effective noise control measures. The training emphasized the need for collaborative enforcement to safeguard public health, maintain environmental quality, and ensure compliance with national regulations.
The EPA said the initiative forms part of its broader commitment to building institutional capacity and promoting a healthier, safer, and more sustainable urban environment across Liberia.
