IPNEWS:  The Ministry of Education of the Republic of Liberia has announced plans to establish a new partnership with the Republic of Uzbekistan, marking a significant step toward strengthening educational ties between the two nations.

The initiative follows a productive bilateral meeting held on the sidelines of the UNESCO General Conference in Samarkand, where Liberia’s Minister of Education, Hon. Dr. Jarso Maley Jallah, met with Hon. Kongratbay Sharipov, Uzbekistan’s Minister of Higher Education, Science, and Innovations.

During the discussions, both ministers expressed mutual interest in enhancing cooperation across various areas of education. Key focus areas of the proposed collaboration include student and teacher exchanges, scholarship opportunities for Liberian students to pursue higher education and technical training in Uzbekistan, youth entrepreneurship programs, and the promotion of STEM education (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics).

Dr. Jallah emphasized that this partnership aligns with Liberia’s broader goal of expanding access to quality education and building global linkages that empower young people. “Our engagement with Uzbekistan represents an important milestone in Liberia’s education reform agenda. We are creating new pathways for innovation, skills development, and cross-cultural learning,” she said.

The collaboration is also expected to enhance capacity building within Liberia’s education sector, promote academic research, and encourage the exchange of best practices between institutions in both countries.

Hon. Sharipov welcomed the initiative, noting Uzbekistan’s readiness to support Liberia through technical assistance and academic exchange programs that promote sustainable human capital development.

This partnership reflects Liberia’s ongoing commitment to strengthening international cooperation in education, fostering innovation, and creating new global learning opportunities for Liberian youth.
