    ‘Right-side, Downside’, Tension Erupts at Education Ministry

    IPNEWS: Justice in chambers, His Honor Yamie Quiqua Gbeisay, has placed a writ of prohibition on ongoing proceedings between aggrieved Education Officers (EOS), by and through it’s spokesman, Atty. Steven Toe, of the Ministry of Education and embattled Minister of Education, Dr. Jarson M. Jallah, and her Deputies.

    According to a citation in the possession of IPNEWS. the parties are to present themselves on December 16,2024, at 10:00A.

    The Justice in chambers writ of prohibition comes o the back of an earlier petition by the aggrieved Education Officers to restrain and prohibit Education Minister Jallah, from illegally removing them from their offices, County and District Education Officers for legal and factual reasons.

    The petitioners say that they were employed as District and count Education Officers based upon 6.2.4 of he Education Act of August 8,2011 and 6.2.2 of the 2011 Education Act.

    The aggrieved Education Officers also argued that 6.2.4 of the Education Act states that the education office of each county shall be needed by a county education officer (CEO), recruited on a competitive merit basis and nominated by the county education Board for appointment by the Minister in line with rules, regulation and qualification criterial set by the ministry.

    Further, the aggrieved parties states that the qualification criterial set forth by the ministry of education is that in other to be a county and District Education Officers , one must acquire a Bachelor of science in education and master in education with the tenure of four years a d shall be reappointed as mentioned in 6.3.4 of the 2011 education Act.

    The authoritative Independent Probe Newspaper was unable to get reaction from education authorities UpTo press time.
