TIPNEWS: The horrible titles of how LGBT individuals and activists are facing increased attacks, harassment, and violence, across Africa, the authoritative Independent Probe Newspaper, has gathered that lead LGBT for Gender mainstreaming in Liberia, Madam Himieda Wallace Satie, Saturday, April 5, 2025, was manhandled by unknown men in the West Point community, South of the Liberian capital Monrovia, over resistance to her advocacy.

According to eye witnesses who told IPNEWS narrated that Madam Satie, came under attacked by some unknown men dress in black with cutlasses threatening to kill her if she did not leave their community. However, she escaped unharmed .
When contacted, West Point Police commander, Ahamed Kanneh, told IPNEWS that Police were fully informed about the incident and are now in high pursuit for the unknown men.
Inspector Kanneh stated that the Liberia National Police would not condom acts of violence and kidnapping in any parts of the country including west point and had given the unknown men 72 hrs to turnover Madam Satie or face the full weight of the LAW.
He further informed IPNEWS that Madam Satie is safe and is now at a safe home.
Recently Madam Satie and her team were chased out of the densely populated district of West Point, over dispute resulting into her advocacy.
In March 2025, Madam Satie accelerated her encouragements with persons of the LGBT community in Liberia amidst reports of harsh treatment in many quarters .

At one of her engagements, renown LGBT Advocate Archie Ponpon, who was in attendance expressed gratitude to Madam Satie for joining the advocacy for freedom of Gender and Sexuality.
In recent times, there have been reports of harassment and intimidation often fueled by discriminatory laws and social stigma like the laws of Liberia which prohibits the practice of LGBT.

In January 2012, activists advocating for gay rights in Liberia, specifically members of the Movement for the Defense of Gay and Lesbian Rights in Liberia (MODEGAL), faced physical attacks and threats, forcing them to flee. These attacks occurred on the University of Liberia campus where MODEGAL was attempting to organize. The group, founded by Archie Ponpon, sought to advocate for the legalization of same-sex marriage in Liberia. However, Ponpon’s approach was met with skepticism from other Liberian LGBT rights activists who questioned his motivations.
