IPNEWS: The Minister of Justice and Attorney General of Liberia, Cllr. N. Oswald Tweh, has officially launched Cohort Three of the Responsible Citizens Justice Program (RCJP), describing it as a critical investment in shaping a new generation of law-abiding and peace-loving Liberians.
The launch took place Friday at the Ministry of Justice Central Office in Mamba Point, Monrovia, with young participants, parents, guardians, and representatives of partner institutions in attendance.
Minister Tweh said the RCJP is designed to help young people understand that citizenship comes with responsibility.
“The program is instrumental in helping young people understand that every citizen has a duty to uphold the law, respect the rights of others, reject violence, and contribute meaningfully to building peaceful communities,” he stated.
He noted that while courts, law enforcement, and other justice institutions remain essential pillars of governance, direct investment in youth is equally important for a peaceful, just, and inclusive society.
The Attorney General urged participants to take full advantage of the training, workshops, and mentorship offered through the program.
He stressed that the knowledge, skills, and values acquired will equip them to become responsible leaders and agents of positive change in their communities.
“Uphold integrity,” Minister Tweh told the cohort. “It is your greatest qualification and one of the most valuable attributes you can possess as responsible citizens and future.
Cllr. Tweh commended parents and guardians for their unwavering support and thanked partners for their continued commitment to Liberia’s youth.
The RCJP is implemented with support from several institutions including the Liberia National Police, US Embassy Monrovia, United Nations Human Rights, Liberia Anti-Corruption Commission, Ministry of Information, Liberia National Fire Service, Office for the Establishment of War and Economic Crimes Court, Witness Protection Agency, and the Federation of Liberian Youth, among others.
The Responsible Citizens Justice Program educates and inspires young Liberians on four core areas: civic responsibility, the rule of law, peaceful coexistence, and active citizenship.
Officials say the initiative forms part of the Ministry of Justice’s broader strategy to strengthen public engagement in the justice sector and promote sustainable peace and national development across Liberia.
With the launch of Cohort Three, the Ministry says it is expanding reach to more communities and ensuring that more young people are equipped to defend democratic values and contribute to nation-building.
