IPNEWS: The National Executive Committee, the sole authorized structure of the Congress for Democratic Change (CDC), responsible for the suspension or expulsion of a partisan’s membership within the party’s structure amongst many other responsibilities clarifies that any action to expel a party member must adhere to constitutional provision, which ensures due process.
Recommendation for the expulsion of a party member by the Grievance and Ethics Committee, or any other sub-structure of the party after due process must be forwarded to the National Executive Committee for deliberation, approval, or rejection.
In the case involving Hon. Ivar Jones, Representative for District 2, Margibi County, this process has not been followed. Consequently, the National Executive Committee confirms that Hon. Ivar Jones remains a member of the CDC.
Considering this situation, the NEC is cautioning and sternly WARNS Chairman Daddy Gibson, and the leadership of Margibi County, as well as all other substructures of the party to CEASE and DESIST from acts which are detrimental to the party and contravene the party’s constitution.
The National Executive Committee makes it categorically clear that no county chapter or any subsidiary of the CDC has the authority to expel any member of the party.
Adherence by all concerned is essential for maintaining the organization’s cohesion and commitment to the rule of law.
