Officers of the LDEA has nabbed to men impersonating as officers of the Liberia National Police with huge quantity of drugs.

According to sources at the LDEA, the two fake officers were busted  at the Bo Waterside border  crossing point early Thursday morning loaded in a white pickup truck.

The arrests occurred at the Bo Waterside border point, which separates Liberia and Sierra Leone.

The suspects were allegedly attempting to smuggle a large cache of drugs from Sierra Leone into Liberia when they were caught by border security.

The operation was a collaborative effort between the LDEA and the Joint Security Forces. This incident is part of a wider series of drug crackdowns in Liberia.

It may be recalled, in February 2024, the LDEA arrested a Liberia Immigration Service officer in Nimba County with a large quantity of the synthetic drug “Kush”.

Also, In September 2025, the LDEA, with support from the LNP, made the largest drug seizure in its history, confiscating 1,929 kilograms of marijuana in Brewerville. Additionally,  in September 2025, the LDEA apprehended a 52-year-old Sierra Leonean national for attempting to smuggle marijuana into Liberia at the Bo Waterside border crossing.
