President Joseph Nyuma Boakai, Sr., President of the Republic of Liberia, has this morning departed Monrovia for the United States of America to attend the historic 80th Session of the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) in New York.

President Boakai will join fellow Heads of State, global leaders, and international partners in critical deliberations on world peace, climate change, sustainable development, and global cooperation.

While in the U.S., the Liberian Leader will also convene the first-ever Liberia National Diaspora Conference in Washington, D.C. The groundbreaking forum seeks to strengthen ties with Liberians abroad, promote investment opportunities, and rally support for the country’s national development priorities.

Accompanying the President is a high-level government delegation, including the Dean and members of the Cabinet as well as Legislators. Among key officials slated for specialized sessions and bilateral meetings are:

    👍Foreign Minister Sara Beysolow Nyanti

    👍Finance Minister Augustine Kpehe Ngafuan

    👍Education Minister Jarso Maley Jallah

👍EPA Executive Director Dr. Emmanuel K. Urey Yarkpawolo

👍Health Minister Dr. Louise M. Kpoto

👍Youth & Sports Minister Cllr. Jerod Cole Bangalu

President Boakai emphasized that Liberia’s presence at the UNGA reaffirms the country’s commitment to multilateralism and its determination to actively confront pressing global challenges. At the same time, the Diaspora Conference underscores the vital role of Liberians abroad in driving the nation’s growth and progress.

The President is expected to address the Plenary of the UNGA, and hold crucial bilateral talks with international partners, donor agencies, and business leaders, all aimed at strengthening partnerships, attracting investment, and advancing Liberia’s development agenda.

In the President’s absence, Justice Minister Cllr. Oswald N. Tweh will coordinate Cabinet affairs as Acting Chairman, in consultation with the Vice President and the President.

President Boakai and his delegation are scheduled to return to Liberia at the end of the month, following the conclusion of their engagements at the UNGA and the Diaspora Conference.
