RIVER GEE, Maryland: River Gee County’s joint security forces have responded to a deadly land dispute that has resulted in the deaths of three residents.

On March 18, 2025, a violent clash erupted between the people of the Glarro and Kiteabo clans in District 3 over a longstanding land dispute. The conflict escalated when firearms were used, leading to multiple fatalities.

The violence claimed the life of Eric Nyenpan, a resident of the Kiteabo clan, who was allegedly killed by members of the Glarro clan. In a retaliatory attack, Kiteabo fighters reportedly killed Sebastian Saylee, a resident of the Glarro clan.

The situation has sparked fear and panic among residents of Electoral District #3, prompting swift intervention by local authorities.

    Security Intervention

Superintendent Mike T. Swengbe over the weekend coordinated the deployment of joint security forces, including personnel from the Liberian National Police, Armed Forces of Liberia, Police Support Unit, the Liberia Drug Enforcement Agency, and the Liberia Immigration Service. The forces have been stationed in the affected areas to restore order and prevent further violence.

In response to the crisis, River Gee’s joint security team has been mobilized to de-escalate tensions and maintain peace in the region.

    Calls for Justice and Peace

Civil society organizations (CSOs) and concerned citizens have strongly condemned the violence and are urging a thorough investigation into the conflict.

Abu Diallo, a leader of River Gee County’s CSOs, described the killings as unlawful and called on stakeholders to take immediate action. He also commended Superintendent Swengbe and the joint security forces for their swift intervention.

    Superintendent Swengbe’s Assurance

Superintendent Swengbe has called on residents to remain calm, assuring them that the Liberian government is fully committed to resolving the dispute. He emphasized that justice will be served and those responsible for the violence will be held accountable.

Authorities continue to investigate the situation while focusing on restoring peace, preventing further bloodshed, and engaging in dialogue between the conflicting communities.
