IPNEWS: Liberia’s Vice President, Jeremiah Kpah Koung Sr. fumble in response to public concerns on making good campaign promises of Unity Party.
VP Koung in an abrupt join-in on the famous ‘Spoon Talk’ late Sunday, December 14, 2024, to the dismay of many could not antiquate the government’s development agenda resulting into repeated questioning by program host Stanton A. Witherspoon, now a U.S.A convicted Felon.
VP Koung began, “Normally I am not supposed to be on the radio”, but I can tell you Koffa negotiated an exit during a meeting in which my boss-Mr. President asked me to chair.”
In total disregard to the offices of the Minister of Information and Presidential Press Secretary, Kulah Fofana, VP Koung publicly discussed a meeting that was held at President Joseph Nyuma Boakai’s residence where high-profile government officials were present including, the Senate Protemp- Nyonblee Karngar Lawrence, Minister of State for Presidential Affairs, Speaker- Cllr. Fonati Koffa, National Security Advisor, Legal Advisor to the President, Justice Minister among others in connection to the ongoing political battle at the House of Representative amidst report of being one of the masterminds seeking the removal of House Speaker Koffa.
VP Koung reveals how he was called by President Boakai at his Rehab residence at 1:00P.M. to attend a strategic meeting.
“At this meeting Koffa requested the Majority Bloc to agree on three key issues: lifting the suspensions placed on a few Representatives from his bloc, assigning some of his bloc Representatives to committees, and allowing him to preside over the session as he officially transfers authority to Deputy Speaker Fallah,” VP Koung stated on Spoon show.
In a swift reaction, House Speaker Cllr. J. Fonati Koffa wrote on his official Facebook page and said “Lies, twisted lies and distortions”
“I listened to the distorted and inaccurate comments made by Vice President Koung on Spoon TV few minutes ago.
“At no time did I negotiate with the Vice President nor the President to resign.
“My position is and has always been let’s return to legislative normalcy by 1) removing the illegal suspensions 2) restoring the rightful committee heads 3) returning to chambers and discussing all matters including their complaints in session.
“The VP asked for a white ballot for Richard Koon, passage of the budget, and discussion of committee after a new speaker. I rejected all that.
“We came to no agreement, and the next day, the minister of justice gave the opinion on the court ruling, which was written for him.
“But the most telling thing is that the Vice President’s appearance and inappropriate comments on a radio talk show exposed his hand as the principal mastermind of the whole unconstitutional saga.
“I remain firm on the side of the law. The executive can continue to ignore the rule of law, but I will not waver. Thanks
VP Koung’s outburst and contradiction has sparked mixed reactions among with many frowning at VP Koung revelation as inappropriate.
