IPNEWS: Liberia: In a decisive move to enhance governance and boost institutional efficiency under his administration’s ARREST Agenda, President Joseph Nyuma Boakai, Sr. has announced a sweeping round of appointments and changes across several government ministries and agencies.
According to an Executive Mansion release, the latest nominations and appointments introduce new leadership in critical sectors, with some requiring confirmation by the Liberian Senate.
At the Ministry of Mines and Energy, President Boakai appointed Mr. R. Matenokay Tingban as Minister. He will be supported by Mr. Sumo Samuel Momolu, Assistant Minister for Mines, and Mr. Samuel Summerville, Assistant Minister for Mining Exploration.
The Ministry of Education also saw new faces, with Mr. Thomas Momo Parker named Deputy Minister for Planning, Research and Development, and Mr. Oscar Gurtor Flomo appointed as Assistant Minister for the same department.
In the higher education sector, the National Commission on Higher Education (NCHE) will now be headed by Dr. Cecelia Cassell as Executive Director.
At the Ministry of Gender, Children and Social Protection, President Boakai appointed Ms. Agnes C. Marshall as Assistant Minister for Children and Social Protection, while Ms. Josephine Greaves becomes Assistant Minister for Research, Policy, and Planning.
Major administrative adjustments were also made at the Liberia Airport Authority (LAA). The President accepted the resignation of Board Chairman Hon. Massaquoi Kamara and approved the retirement of Hon. Jeremiah Mends-Cole, Managing Director, on medical grounds. He subsequently appointed Mr. Ernest R. Hughes as the new Managing Director and Mr. Nyan Mantein as Chairman of the Board.

• Mr. Nelsco A. Wolo, Deputy Commissioner General for Administration, Liberia Immigration Service
At the Judiciary, President Boakai named several new judges across multiple jurisdictions:
• Cllr. William G. Capehert, Judge, Traffic Court, Gbarnga City
• Cllr. Eric Morlu, Judge, Debt Court, Lofa County
• Cllr. Daniel D. Dolokelen, Judge, Debt Court, Bong County
• Atty. Anthony Kollie, Judge, Criminal Court “E”, Lofa County
• Cllr. Rennie O. Moses, Judge, Criminal Court “E”, Grand Gedeh County
President Boakai extended heartfelt appreciation to outgoing officials for their dedicated years of service and urged the new appointees to demonstrate integrity, diligence, and commitment to national service.
“The task ahead requires renewed energy and an unshakable sense of duty to country,” the President said. “Together, we must continue to build institutions that serve the Liberian people with honesty and accountability.”
The President’s latest reshuffle is viewed by political observers as part of a broader effort to reinvigorate public service and align government performance with the core objectives of the ARREST Agenda Agriculture, Roads, Rule of Law, Education, Sanitation, and Tourism.
