IPNEWS: The Managing Director of the National Port Authority, Hon. Sekou A. M. Dukuly on Friday, September 4, 2026 paid a courtesy call on the Director General of the Port of Abidjan, Hon. Kassoum Traore. The visit formed part of a high-level discussion centered on the modernization of Liberia’s port infrastructure and development projects.
Welcoming the NPA boss, Hon. Traore said he was delighted by the visit. He went on to recount the long-standing relationship between Liberia and Ivory Coast, a bond built on diplomatic ties and the exchange of goods and services. Furthermore, he noted that Liberia’s role in the Mano River Union basin stands as a testament to its place as the oldest republic in Africa.
Building on this point, Hon. Traore described the Port of Abidjan as a leading port platform in West Africa, one whose experience and achievements continue to draw growing interest from neighboring ports across the subregion.
For his part, Hon. Dukuly said he was impressed by the pace of infrastructure development at the Port of Abidjan. In light of this, he stressed the importance of shared expertise in supporting the development and competitiveness of ports throughout West Africa. He further noted that the Port of Abidjan’s experience in modernizing infrastructure, expanding port capacity, and improving platform performance was the central purpose of his visit.
In addition, Hon. Dukuly said the management of the NPA has, over the past year, remained focused on the larger transformation of the Port. As a result, he added, the institution continues to build a modern port system that meets international standards and supports trade expansion. Ultimately, he stressed, every milestone in this transformation is measured by one standard alone, the tangible benefits it delivers to the Liberian people.
