Guangzhou, China – July 26, 2025 – The Liberian community in Guangzhou came together in a spirited celebration of Liberia’s 178th Independence Day, organized under the leadership of Mr. Boima Fahnbulleh, Chairman of the Liberian Business Association in China (LIBAC). The gathering brought together Liberian entrepreneurs, students, families, and professionals for an evening of cultural connection and national pride.
A Celebration of Heritage and Community
Held at the newly bar “TASTE OF AFRICA” in Guangzhou, the event captured the essence of Liberian hospitality and togetherness. Guests enjoyed:
- Traditional Liberian cuisine, including jollof rice, potatoes greens, and salad
- A vibrant atmosphere filled with Liberian music and warm conversations
- Networking opportunities among the growing Liberian community in China
- A strong sense of unity: as attendees reconnected with their roots
Mr. Fahnbulleh, who helped coordinate the event, emphasized the importance of maintaining Liberian culture abroad. “Today, we celebrate not just our nation’s independence, but also the strength of our community here in China,” he said. “No matter where we are in the world, we carry Liberia in our hearts.”

A Home Away from Home:
For many attendees, the gathering was a cherished opportunity to share memories, laughter, and the familiar tastes of home. Younger Liberians, including students and professionals new to China, found comfort in meeting fellow compatriots, while long-time residents reminisced about their homeland.
As the evening concluded, the group joined in singing the Liberian national anthem—a powerful moment of solidarity that bridged the distance between Guangzhou and Monrovia.
Looking Ahead:
The success of this year’s celebration reinforced the Liberian community’s commitment to staying connected and supporting one another in China. Plans are already underway for future cultural and business networking events to further strengthen ties within the diaspora.
Happy 178th Independence Day, Liberia!
May our nation continue to prosper, and may Liberians around the world always find family wherever they go.
