IPNEWS: The administration of the United Methodist University, UMU, have sent out 18 students benefiting Golden veroleum Liberia, GVL, scholarship due to the company failure to paid the students fees.
The combined fees for the 18 students, according to the administration is Seven thousand twenty united states dollars (USD 7,020).
During the previous administrations of UMU, they and GVL had an agreement that the company will paid her obligation to the institutions upon receiving her beneficiaries grade sheet.
Accordingly, on November 23, 2024, the acting administration of UMU wrote GVL, informing them that they have revised their previous agreement stating that the institution is challenge and need the students fees to settled some of her challenges.
Following the receipt of the communication, GVL wrote the institutions informing them that they have accepted the change and promise to paid the students fees on or before Thursday January 23, 2025, but failed to do up to today’s date.
Currently, UMU is administering her final for 2023/2024 semester 11, and the 18 Sinoe students benefiting Golden Veroleum Liberia scholarship are Out of the final hall.
Prior to the final, the sinoe university students’ union leadership, headed by its President, Alexander Wea, and affected students of UMU on several occasions visited GVL head office, in demand for clarification but to no avail.
The students have also placed several calls and visitation to the sinoe legislative caucus but all efforts have been fruitless. By: Christopher Wiah, 0880948408/0770247202
