    LIBERIA: LNP Investigates Alarming Attacks on Motorcyclists

    IPNEWS: The Inspector General of the Liberia National Police Hon. Gregory O. W. Coleman, has condemned recent mob violence in the Paynesville, 72nd Community, where two alleged motorbike thieves were gruesomely murdered, with one incident caught on camera. 

    He highlighted the rise in killings of motorcyclists by criminals and theft of bikes. Detailed several homicide cases, noting arrests, investigations, and onward forwarding to court for prosecution. 

    Police IG Coleman confirmed that multiple cases of violent assaults on cyclists have been reported across various counties in the country.

    He highlighted a particularly disturbing case at the 72nd Junction, where two individuals, believed to be thieves, were mobbed and stoned to death. Coleman condemned the attack, calling it “barbaric,” and urged citizens to stop taking justice into their own hands through mob violence. The investigation into the matter is ongoing.

     The Liberia National Police (LNP) has expressed concern over a series of recent attacks on motorcyclists, describing the incidents as alarming. Police Inspector General Gregory Coleman confirmed that multiple cases of violent assaults on cyclists have been reported across various counties in the country.

    The IG highlighted a particularly disturbing case at the 72nd Junction, where two individuals, believed to be thieves, were mobbed and stoned to death. Coleman condemned the attack, calling it “barbaric,” and urged citizens to stop taking justice into their own hands through mob violence. The investigation into the matter is ongoing.

    Recently, a motorcyclist was fatally shot late Sunday night in the Sinkor community during an armed robbery on 8th Street, leaving residents in shock and raising urgent concerns about Monrovia’s escalating crime rate.

    According to eyewitnesses, the victim was attacked by unidentified assailants who forcibly stole his motorbike before fleeing the scene. Authorities later transported the victim’s body to the John F. Kennedy Medical Center for examination. However, no official details about the deceased have been released.

    The incident has sparked outrage among Sinkor residents, who are calling for immediate action from law enforcement to apprehend the perpetrators. Community members are also demanding stronger security measures to combat the rising wave of criminal activity in the capital and its surrounding areas.

    This tragic shooting occurred amid a string of violent incidents involving motorbike thefts in Monrovia. On the same day, two individuals were reportedly attacked by mobs for allegedly attempting to steal motorbikes, further highlighting the volatile state of public safety in the city.
