Liberia: The Liberia National Police (LNP) has conducted an autopsy on the remains of Ntombi Toni Khumalo Jackson, the late wife of suspect Samuel Jackson, as part of the ongoing investigation surrounding her death.
The procedure was carried out amid concerns and objections raised by the legal team representing Samuel Jackson. In a formal communication dated March 16, 2026, the defense team, headed by prominent Liberian lawyer Sayma Cyrenius Cephus, requested a delay of the autopsy, citing several issues they believed warranted further consideration before the examination proceeded.
According to the letter, the defense argued that the notice provided for the autopsy was too short, making it difficult for the legal team to adequately prepare. The lawyers also raised concerns about the credentials of the pathologist assigned to conduct the autopsy, stating that they had not been given sufficient time to verify the professional background of the medical examiner.
Another concern highlighted by the defense was their inability to secure an independent pathologist who could represent their client’s interests during the autopsy. The legal team indicated that the short notice prevented them from arranging for a qualified expert to observe or participate in the process.
Additionally, the defense argued that no official death certificate establishing the cause of death had been presented prior to the decision to conduct the autopsy. They maintained that the absence of a documented cause of death — and the fact that it had not yet been formally disputed or challenged — raised questions about the urgency of the procedure.
Despite the request for a delay, the Liberia National Police moved forward with the autopsy as part of their investigative process. Authorities have not yet released the official findings from the examination.
The case has attracted significant public attention as investigators continue to piece together the circumstances surrounding the death of Ntombi Toni Khumalo Jackson. Legal observers say the results of the autopsy could play a crucial role in determining the next steps in the investigation and any potential legal proceedings involving Samuel Jackson.
The Liberia National Police has previously urged members of the public and the media to rely on official updates as the investigation progresses.
