IPNEWS-Buchanan, Grand Bassa County: International renewable energy developer Deenam Biomass Liberia Ltd has announced plans to begin full commercial operations in Grand Bassa County in November 2026, signaling what company officials describe as a long-term investment that could transform the countyโs energy and employment landscape.
The companyโs President of Operations, Martin Greenwood, disclosed that the first stage of the project will provide jobs for nearly five hundred local residents, with a second expansion phase projected to increase the workforce to about one thousand employees.
According to Greenwood, the hiring process is scheduled to take place between April and June and will include application screening, interviews, and extensive training programs aimed at preparing recruits for technical and operational roles within the facility.
Construction activities are already advancing, he said, while preparations are underway for the arrival of heavy equipment expected in the country in September. He emphasized that the project is entirely renewable and designed to operate sustainably for several decades.
The newly appointed General Manager Mrs. Tawah Reeves echoed the companyโs commitment, outlining an ambitious agenda for the upcoming months that centers on staff recruitment, procurement systems, and the shipment of critical machinery.
Reeves explained that she will oversee multiple departmentsโincluding human resources, finance, information technology, and procurementโroles she described as essential to ensuring a smooth transition from construction to production.
โThe next three quarters will be decisive for us,โ she said. โWe are focused on assembling a strong workforce and putting the right structures in place so that when we begin full operations, everything runs efficiently.โ
Local officials and residents have welcomed the announcement, viewing the project as a potential catalyst for economic growth and skills development in Grand Bassa County, as anticipation builds toward the companyโs planned 2026 launch.
