The Joint National Security Investigation Team, under the guidance of the Ministry of Justice, informs the public that Mr. Philip Yeoh Jr. has been formally charged in connection with the ongoing investigation into the attempted shipment of suspected illicit drugs through the Roberts International Airport.

The charge follows an investigation into six boxes presented for shipment from Liberia to the United Kingdom and declared as general cargo. During security screening and a subsequent physical inspection, officers discovered a white powdery substance suspected to be illicit drugs.

According to the investigation, Mr. Yeoh Jr., an employee of Global Logistics Services/Menzies, was brought in for questioning, informed of his constitutional rights, and investigated in the presence of his legal counsel. The investigation alleges that, after being informed of the discovery, he communicated with a co-defendant and participated in efforts to negotiate the release of the consignment.

Based on the facts and evidence gathered, Mr. Philip Yeoh Jr. has been charged with Criminal Facilitation, Criminal Solicitation, Criminal Conspiracy, and Concealing Property Derived from a Drug Offense, pursuant to Chapter 10, Sections 10.2, 10.3, and 10.4 of the Revised Penal Law of Liberia, and Chapter 14, Section 14.95 of the  Amended Controlled Drug and Substance Act of 2023. He has been forwarded for prosecution before a court of competent jurisdiction.

In a related development, Mr. George Wha Harris has been identified as a person of interest in the ongoing investigation. He has been questioned by the Joint National Security Investigation Team. During the course of the investigation, he was arrested and formally charged for his unruly conduct. He has since been released into the custody of his legal representative as the investigation continues.

The Joint National Security Investigation Team emphasizes that the charges against Mr. Philip Yeoh Jr. and the allegations involving any other person remain subject to judicial and investigative processes. All persons accused of crimes are presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty by a court of competent jurisdiction.

The investigation remains active, and additional persons may be invited, questioned, or charged where the evidence establishes a lawful basis for such action. The public is urged to avoid speculation, refrain from circulating unverified information, and rely on official updates issued by the Joint National Security Investigation Team.

The Joint National Security Investigation Team remains committed to a professional, impartial, and evidence-based investigation and to ensuring that all persons connected to the matter are treated in accordance with the law and due process.
