Gray Accuses Boakai Government of Political Persecution, Warns Unity Party Officials of Prosecution After 2029

‎IPNEWS: Former Montserrado County District 8 Representative and senior Coalition for Democratic Change (CDC) figure Acarous Moses Gray has leveled serious accusations against the Unity Party-led government, alleging that the arrest of former CDC National Chairman Mulbah K. Morlu is politically motivated and aimed at intimidating opposition voices.
    ‎
‎Addressing supporters, Gray described Morlu as a “political prisoner,” claiming that President Joseph Nyuma Boakai authorized his arrest as part of what he characterized as a broader campaign to silence the opposition. He further alleged that officers of the Liberia National Police intended to assassinate Morlu, but did not present evidence to substantiate the claim.
    ‎
‎In a strongly worded warning, Gray said officials of the current administration, including President Boakai and Inspector General of Police Gregory O. W. Coleman, could face prosecution should the CDC or another opposition bloc return to power following the 2029 general elections.
    ‎
‎”They will not remain in power forever. By January 2030, those responsible will face justice,” Gray declared, insisting that his party would pursue legal accountability for what it believes are politically motivated actions.
    ‎
‎Gray also launched a scathing attack on the Liberia National Police, describing the institution as a “criminal entity.” He accused Inspector General Coleman of criminal conduct. He alleged that the police chief had past links to the former Special Operations Division (SOD) and the National Patriotic Front of Liberia (NPFL). Gray offered no evidence to support the allegations, and they have not been independently verified.
    ‎
‎The comments come amid heightened political tensions surrounding Morlu’s arrest. While the CDC maintains that the case reflects political persecution, the Boakai administration has consistently stated that law enforcement agencies are carrying out their constitutional responsibilities without interference from politics.
    ‎
‎The Liberia National Police and the Executive Mansion had not publicly responded to Gray’s latest allegations at the time of publication.
