IPNEWS: The authoritative Independent Probe Newspaper can confirm that former Liberian Vice President Jewel Howard Taylor was early Wednesday, August 19, morning stopped by Joint Security forces at the Roberts International Airport (RIA), while trying to board a Asky flight bond for Accra Ghana.
Liberia’s Ministry of Information confirmed that the country’s Joint Security declared the former Vice President a “person of interest”.
Security sources tell IPNEWS that this restriction is tied to an ongoing high-profile investigation regarding a massive US$317 million narcotics seizure intercepted in Duazon.
Former VP Taylor was prevented from boarding Asky flight to Accra, Ghana, where she intended to participate in a women’s leadership forum.
The Joint Security forces directed her to report immediately to the Liberia National Police Headquarters.
Taylor and her legal team compliance-checked the directive and headed straight to the police headquarters for questioning.
The intervention follows weeks after Taylor publicly urged the Liberian government to meticulously preserve forensic evidence before destroying the seized drugs to prevent harming future prosecutions. Additional details regarding the exact nature of the Joint Security’s questions or her alleged involvement have not yet been released.
