IPNEWS: Liberia’s Minister of Agriculture, Dr. J. Alexander Nuetah, has announced that this year’s National Agricultural Fair (NAF 2025) will focus on creating greater awareness about locally produced agricultural goods and empowering Liberian farmers to strengthen food security and self-sufficiency.
Speaking on Tuesday, November 4, 2025, at the Ministry of Information, Cultural Affairs, and Tourism’s (MICAT) regular press briefing
Minister Nuetah revealed that the fair will be officially launched in Ganta, Nimba County, on December 9, 2025, under the theme “Empowering Farmers and Enriching the Nation.”
He disclosed that December 10–11 will feature a national farmers’ conference, bringing together key stakeholders in the agriculture sector, including farmers, policymakers and partners, to discuss strategies for expanding agricultural productivity.
The official display of farmers’ products will take place on December 13, with President Joseph Nyuma Boakai and several local and international partners expected to grace the occasion.
Minister Nuetah emphasized that this year’s fair is designed to showcase the rich agricultural potential of Liberia’s major food-producing regions.
He described Nimba, Bong, and Lofa Counties as the country’s primary “breadbaskets,” citing their vital roles in food production, especially in crops such as cocoa.
“When farmers are empowered, they produce more food for the local market, reduce dependence on imports, and help feed the nation,” Minister Nuetah stated.
He added that farmers are now receiving fair prices for their products, which encourages increased productivity and fosters sustainable partnerships across the agricultural value chain.
Minister Nuetah further highlighted that agriculture remains the heart of President Boakai’s ARREST Agenda for Inclusive Development
underscoring the administration’s commitment to empowering rural communities and ensuring national food security.
“As officials, we are doing everything possible to achieve the President’s agenda in the interest of the Liberian people,” he said.
“Agriculture is everyone’s business — the more we invest in farming, the more people depend on local producers for their livelihood.”
