IPNEWS: In a landmark ceremony, the General Grand Chapter (GGC) of the Order of the Eastern Star (OES) has reactivated five subordinate Chapters that had remained dormant for more than four decades.
The reactivation, held at the Grand Masonic Temple on West Benson Street, was presided over by Past General Grand Worthy Patron, Worthy Brother Anthony W. Deline II, during a special Convocation.
The five Chapters brought back into full operation are:
Golden Sheath Chapter No. 2
Harper, Maryland County.
Ruth Chapter No. 5
Greenville, Sinoe County
Queen Esther Chapter No. 7
St. John River City, Grand Bassa County
Tharah Chapter No. 14
Tubmanburg, Bomi County
And
Elizabeth Chapter No. 15
Gbarnga, Bong County
During the ceremony, the Reactivating Worthy Matrons and Patrons were formally installed and granted authority to admit and initiate members, restoring the Chapters to regular status within the Order.
Speaking on behalf of the reactivated bodies, Worthy Brother Reginald B. Goodridge and Worthy Sister D. Sheba Brown, reactivating Matron, Queen Esther Chapter No. 7 expressed gratitude for the opportunity to serve. She pledged to uphold their responsibilities with dedication and commitment.
Delivering a special message, General Grand Worthy Matron, Worthy Sister Mydea White Simmons, reflected on the founding mandate of the Order of the Eastern Star, established in Liberia in 1903. She noted that the five Chapters had remained inactive since the 1980 military takeover and hailed their revival as a significant milestone in the Order’s history.
Simmons emphasized the vision of elevating Eastern Star Districts to Grand Chapter status, a move aimed at expanding the Order’s presence across Africa. She revealed that Nigeria and Ghana have already expressed strong interest in establishing OES jurisdictions, with ongoing engagements underway.
The Convocation drew officers and members from the General Grand Chapter, along with representatives of all 16 subordinate Chapters, including the five newly reactivated bodies.
After 46 years of dormancy, the General Grand Chapter of the Order of the Eastern Star RL, has now Reactivated all Five Eastern Star Chapters throughout Liberia.
