    IPNEWS: As Liberians embrace the dry season, Bea Mountain Mining Corporation (BMMC) officially broke ground on the rehabilitation of two major roads in Grand Cape Mount County, Liberia, on Saturday, 17th January 2025. The roads connecting Sarnor to Bambala in Porkpa District and Korma Sorkporjah to Gohn in Tewor District aim to enhance connectivity, boost local economies, and improve access to vital services.

    The ceremony was attended by BMMC officials, the Grand Cape Mount County Legislative Caucus, local officials, and community leaders. Porkpa Chiefdom Paramount Chief Hajah Jamiatiatu Konneh-Watson presented a livestock to BMMC as a token of appreciation. County Superintendent Foley J. Kiatamba praised BMMC for its development efforts.

    After the groundbreaking, the team visited the new Bangorma city for site viewing and assessment. They were impressed with the modern facilities and infrastructure, including housing units, roads, and amenities. The ‘RURAL CITY OF HOPE’ – NEW BANGORMA, is a modern town designed to host relocated residents of Bangorma Town in Meimassa Clan, Tewor District.

    BMMC’s Deputy Operation Manager, Mr. Emre Kuyu and Government & Community Affairs Manager, Alpaslan Özbilge expressed delight in undertaking the initiative, while lawmakers and local leaders hailed BMMC’s efforts and urged the company to continue improving roads in the county. The project is expected to benefit hundreds of citizens by improving access to markets, schools, and healthcare facilities.

    BMMC Deputy Operation Manager, Mr. Emre Kuyu emphasized that “THE ROAD REHABILITATIONS, REFURBISHMENTS AND OTHER INITIATIVES UNDERTAKEN ARE NOT ONLY LIMITED TO GRAND CAPE MOUNT COUNTY, BUT THE COUNTRY IN GENERAL. With our  collective efforts and cordially working together, we can all achieve more.”

    The visit to New Bangorma city showcased BMMC’s commitment to community development and relocation efforts. The team was impressed with the progress made so far, and the modern facilities on display.

    The groundbreaking ceremony and site visit demonstrate BMMC’s dedication to improving the lives of communities in Grand Cape Mount County. The rehabilitation of the Sarnor-Bambala and Korma Sorkporjah-Gohn roads is expected to have a significant impact on local economies and access to essential services.

    The ‘RURAL CITY OF HOPE’ – NEW BANGORMA, is a testament to BMMC’s commitment to responsible mining practices and community development. The modern town is designed to provide a better quality of life for relocated residents, with access to basic amenities and services.

    BMMC’s efforts have been praised by local leaders, who urge the company to continue investing in community development projects. The company’s initiatives are expected to contribute to the growth and development of Grand Cape Mount County, improving the lives of its citizens.
