IPNEWS: Montserrado County Senator Abraham Darius Dillion is urging the Students Unification Party (SUP) and other student-based organizations across Liberia to shift their focus from chanting political slogans to engaging more critically with the national budget.
Speaking during a recent public engagement, Senator Dillion called on student activists to elevate their advocacy by examining government budgetary allocations to ministries and agencies emphasizing that such scrutiny is essential for transparency, accountability, and responsible governance.
He encouraged student leadership to make the budget a central part of campus discourse.
“I am calling on the Students Unification Party, PROSA, and other student groups to kindly look into the budget. Let them take the budget to the Palava Hut and argue over allotments,” Senator Dillion urged.
According to him, student political organizations play a crucial role in national decision-making and should therefore analyze the budget, debate its priorities, and help educate the public on how national resources are being distributed.
In addition to his appeal to student groups, Senator Dillion also praised Liberia’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, H.E. Sara Beysolow Nyanti, for what he described as exemplary service on the global stage. He commended her for leading Liberia’s successful bid for a non-permanent seat on the United Nations Security Council.
“Madam Sara Beysolow is doing extremely well. She and her team have done incredibly well and deserve to be recognized,” he noted, assigning her an “A” grade for performance.
Senator Dillion said the Minister’s achievement brings pride to the country and reflects a renewed respect for Liberia in international diplomacy.
The Senator’s call adds to ongoing national conversations about strengthening civic participation, improving government oversight, and empowering young people to contribute meaningfully to democratic governance
