IPNEWS: ECOWAS’s parliament sitting I Abuja Nigeria has rejected nominees from Richard Koon’s majority block for a couple of reasons.

According to a dispatch to the ECOWAS Parliament it still recognizes the legitimacy of Speaker Koffa as the Legally Elected Speaker of Liberia’s House of Representatives’.

ECOWAS rejection further states that no Individual parliament of a member state country has any authority to dictate to ECOWAS’s parliament.

Last Week, the Majority Bloc elected new delegates to the ECOWAS Parliament, marking a shift in the country’s regional legislative leadership. The move follows the recall of previous representatives due to controversies over their selection and compliance with ECOWAS protocols.

The election, conducted on Tuesday, aims to restore Liberia’s credibility in the regional body and ensure proper representation in decision-making at the ECOWAS level.

This rejection signal a major twist to earlier statement by the Majority Bloc that it action aligns with Article 18 of the ECOWAS Protocols, reinforcing the country’s commitment to democratic governance within the West African bloc.
