IPNEWS: The much-anticipated Nimba County Day celebration has been indefinitely postponed following a decision reportedly influenced by a request from Nimba County Senator Samuel Kogar.

According to Superintendent Kou Meapeh Gono, the postponement came after a communication from Senator Kogar to Vice President Jeremiah Kpan Koung, calling for a delay in the event. The Senator’s request centered on the need to first resolve ongoing disputes involving the family of the late Senator Prince Yormie Johnson and the PYJ Polytechnic University.

Vice President Koung, in response, accepted the recommendation and advised county authorities to announce a new date once all outstanding issues are settled and preparations are complete.

Superintendent Gono confirmed the decision and urged residents of Nimba to remain calm and supportive as county leaders work to ensure a peaceful and well-organized celebration in the future.

“The celebration will still take place,” Superintendent Gono assured. “We just need to make sure that everything is settled properly so that when we do celebrate, it will reflect unity, respect, and progress for the people of Nimba.”

The Nimba County Day celebration, which honors the county’s cultural heritage and achievements, is a key annual event that draws participation from citizens at home and abroad. The new date for the program is expected to be announced once the ongoing matters are resolved.
