IPNEWS: The Liberia Anti-Corruption Commission (LACC) has clarified the status of two suspended officials from Lofa County University; Human Resource Director Beyan M. M. Kamara and Vice President for Academic Affairs Dr. Morlu Korsor.
Both officials faced allegations of payroll padding involving the university during the period from August 2023 to January 2025. Additionally, they were accused of improperly disbursing over US$337,398.00 and LD$13,329,440.00 from the university’s operational account to individuals as contractors and part-time workers without proper accountability or records of service for the 2022-2023 fiscal years.
In response to these allegations, the administration of Lofa County University, led by President Dr. Isaac Podah, suspended both officials. However, in a letter of clearance, the LACC stated that there is no probable cause to pursue legal action against Kamara and Korsor.
“Upon thorough examination of the facts and available evidence, it has been determined that there is no probable cause to pursue legal criminal proceedings against the said individuals. Accordingly, no charges have been filed, and the case has been closed,” the LACC said in its letter to the two individuals. By: James M. Kollie
