IPNEWS: The Liberia Immigration Service (LIS), under the leadership of its Commissioner General, Col. Elijah F. Rufus, has issued a strong warning to all immigration officers nationwide to refrain from engaging in political activities that could compromise the neutrality and professional integrity of the institution.
In a statement released by the LIS Administration, officers were reminded that participation in political discussions, campaigns, or affiliations is strictly prohibited under the LIS Act of 2016 and the LIS Code of Conduct. These governing instruments require all personnel to maintain impartiality, discipline, and non-partisanship in the execution of their duties.
“The credibility, unity, and public trust in the Liberia Immigration Service hinge on the ethical conduct of its officers,” the statement read. “Any act that suggests political favoritism or creates division within the service will not be tolerated.”
The LIS further warned that it will impose strict disciplinary actions, including suspension or dismissal, on any officer found violating this directive. Such actions will be taken in line with the LIS Act, its Code of Conduct, and the Civil Service regulations governing security institutions.
