Monrovia—The Liberia Standards Authority (LISA) has reached an important milestone by becoming a Correspondent Member of the International Organization for Standardization (ISO). This achievement marks a significant advancement for LISA and Liberia in strengthening its quality infrastructure.
The membership fees were covered through the CASTRAP project, carried out by CERATH and funded by the European Union (EU).
After receiving official notice of LISA’s ISO membership, the Director General of LISA, Stephen Y. Mambu, left Liberia over the weekend to attend the ISO General Assembly in Kigali, Rwanda, scheduled for October 6–10, 2025.
The ISO Annual Meeting 2025 started on Monday in Kigali, gathering global leaders, experts, and policymakers to discuss how international standards can promote sustainable development.
This is only the second time the meeting has been held in Africa, after South Africa in 2019. The five-day event, from October 6–10, has attracted participants from over 176 countries, including representatives from governments, the United Nations, and regional bodies.
LiSA’s Correspondent Membership with ISO supports its long-term goals and places Liberia among a select group of nations dedicated to global standardization.
The membership provides Liberia access to ISO standards, boosts stakeholder involvement, and creates opportunities for capacity building.
