PERSPECTIVE: Yesterday Ghost Hunts CDC Today?

Saturday’s demolition of the historic CDC Headquarter reminds millions of the Memories of the once powerful and rated CDC.

Liberians, both at home and abroad, still reflects a few years ago, I had strong disagreements with the CDC when they were in power, because I believed in speaking truth to power and I will never stop doing the same with the Unity Party today. Liberia does not belong to a political party; Liberia belongs to all Liberians.

What saddens me is that the two major parties that have ruled our nation CDC and Unity Party have failed to build lasting institutions. They have only succeeded in building mansions for themselves while their supporters continue to live in poverty, bearing the consequences of selfish leadership.

Today, we see the CDC headquarters being torn down. While I sympathize with those who are affected, I also believe this is the result of years of poor preparation and misplaced priorities. The Unity Party was in power for twelve (12)years and could not even build a simple palava hut as a permanent headquarters. The CDC also had six (6) years and did the same. This is not leadership; it is a clear demonstration that both parties are more concerned about enriching themselves than about building institutions that will live beyond them.

Fellow Liberians, it is time we wake up. It is time we stop electing leaders based on party colors green or blue and start electing men and women with vision, integrity, and a proven record of turning the impossible into the possible. We need leaders who will build this nation, not just their bank accounts.

Liberia deserves better. We deserve leaders who will think beyond their own lifetime and lay foundations for generations yet unborn. The power belongs to the people, and together, we can demand a new kind of leadership that puts country above party and patriotism above selfishness.
