A total of 140 young people from Grand Bassa County have been selected to participate in the 2025 ArcelorMittal Liberia Vacation Job Program. The selection follows a competitive application process that attracted 584 submissions from across the county.

The program is part of ArcelorMittal Liberia’s broader commitment to youth empowerment and education through its community development and corporate social responsibility initiatives. Grand Bassa received 140 slots out of the 400 total vacancies allocated for Bassa, Bong, and Nimba counties—representing 35 percent of the total regional allotment.

The vacation job program provides high school graduates, university students, and vocational trainees the opportunity to gain hands-on work experience during their academic break. Participants are placed in various departments across AML’s operations, including mining, logistics, administration, and community relations.

This annual initiative is just one aspect of ArcelorMittal Liberia’s multi-layered investment in education and human capital development. The company also runs a Community Development Scholarship Program designed specifically to support high school students from fence line communities in Grand Bassa, Bong, and Nimba counties. Through this scholarship, hundreds of students are being given the chance to access quality secondary education. In this 2025 cycle, hundreds of high school students from Nimba and Bong Counties will also benefit from this program alongside their peers in Grand Bassa.

Additionally, ArcelorMittal Liberia has been instrumental in strengthening higher education in the country. The company continues to support Nimba University through infrastructure, learning materials, and partnership programs aimed at improving the quality of instruction and learning outcomes.

On an international level, AML offers a prestigious overseas scholarship program that enables some of Liberia’s brightest students to study in top universities abroad. The international scholarship program is aimed at building a new generation of skilled Liberian professionals who can lead the country’s future across key sectors, especially in mining, engineering, environmental science, and business.

The 2025 vacation job program adds another layer to AML’s strategic focus on youth development, job readiness, and long-term workforce sustainability. All selected applicants from Grand Bassa are required to report immediately to the office of the County Superintendent in Buchanan to complete their onboarding process. The deadline for this is 12:00 noon on Friday, August 8, 2025.

ArcelorMittal Liberia continues to demonstrate its commitment to national development not only through its core operations but also by investing in the education and future of Liberia’s youth.
