    SENATE POST AND TELECOMMUNICATIONS COMMITTEE BEGINS HEARING INTO ACCUSATION FROM SHAREHOLDERS OF Lonestar Cell MTN Mobile Money

    IPNEWS: The Liberian Senate Post and Telecommunications committee chaired by River Gee County Senator, Francis S. Dopoh will commence an investigative public hearings on Allegations and Regulatory Concerns Surrounding Lonestar Cell MTN Mobile Money.

    The allegation comes from Liberian shareholders of being denied share certificates, dividends, and governance participation, despite claims of holding a 20% ownership stake.

    According to the Committee, the hearing which takes place Wednesday May 28, 2025 seeks to hear testimonies from affected Liberian shareholders; receive official reports and updates from relevant regulatory institutions; engage Lonestar Cell MTN on its compliance, governance practices, and response to these allegations.

    Furthermore, the Committee said Tomorrow’s hearing will Gather perspectives from legal and civil society organizations; as well as Identify any legislative or regulatory gaps that may require Senate intervention.

    According to a Senate release, expected Participants includes,

    • Representatives of the Liberian Shareholders

    • Lonestar Cell MTN Mobile Money Inc.

    • Central Bank of Liberia (CBL)

    • Liberia Telecommunication Authority as well as,

    • Financial Intelligence Agency (FIA)

    • Ministry of Justice

    • Liberia Business Association and the

    • Liberia Chamber of Commerce

    The release concluded that the hearing begins at 9:30 in the Chambers of the Liberian Senate.
