IPNEWS:The leadership of the Press Union of Liberia (PUL) is citing all institutional members of the Union for a meeting on Friday, January 31, 2025, at 10:30 AM, at the PUL Headquarters on Clay Street, Monrovia. The called meeting is accordance with Article 13 Section 1 of the union’s constitution, says the PUL’s leadership.

This meeting marks the first since the Julius Kanubah administration assumed leadership of the PUL in October 2024. The agenda will focus on the release of findings and recommendations from the Report submitted by the Technical Working Group on the Status of the PUL, detailing the assets and liabilities inherited from prior PUL leadership/s.

Constituted in October 2024, the James Kpargoi Committee has completed and submitted its Report, which has been reviewed and approved by the Executive Committee (EC) of the PUL–the second highest decision-making body next to Congress.

Additionally, the meeting will address key engagements undertaken by the PUL leadership since October 2024, as well as the strategic plan of action regarding the Union’s operations. This includes the work of the Membership Committee concerning Membership Registration and Dues payment, organization of lectures and discussions by the Intellectual Discourse Committee, programs and activities of the Welfare Committee, and initiatives by the Sports and Entertainment Committee aimed at fostering social harmony.

The PUL leadership encourages all journalists, media and communication practitioners, as well as electronic and print media institutions and media-related associations—including the Reporters Association of Liberia (RAL), Association of Liberian Community Radio (ALICOR), Sports Writers Association of Liberia (SWAL), Female Journalists Association of Liberia (FeJAL), Publishers Association of Liberia (PAL), Economic Journalists Association (EJA), Foreign Stringers Association of Liberia, Editors Association, and various media NGOs, along with other auxiliary and county-based journalist associations—to attend.

Light refreshments and entertainment will be provided.
