IPNEWS: The Liberia Drug Enforcement Agency (LDEA) and joint security forces have intercepted a massive cache of suspected cocaine inside a warehouse in Duazon, Margibi County,

Officials believe could be this largest drug seizure in Liberia’s history might just be the biggest drugs bust ever.

Preliminary assessments indicate the stash consists of high-grade cocaine.

Up to press time security forces were still conducting an inventory, however, reports estimate the warehouse housed anywhere from $50 million to upwards of $200 million worth of narcotics.

Information Minister Jerolinmek Piah confirmed the breakthrough, stating that early metrics indicate this haul may surpass the landmark $19 million airport drug bust from earlier this year.

Joint security forces arrested two foreign nationals—one Colombian and one Spanish citizen—who are allegedly linked to managing the logistics and warehousing of the operation.

This operation along the Monrovia-Roberts International Airport corridor follows heightened local anxiety over drug syndicates utilizing Liberia’s borders and transit networks.

The Liberia Drugs Enforcement Agency (LDEA) has launched laboratory and forensic testing to confirm the exact chemical composition, weight, and market valuation of the seized materials before forwarding the suspects for prosecution.

The Government of Liberia, through the join security forces seized the huge consignment of drugs, reportedly believed to be cocaine early Tuesday morning.

According to preliminary reports, law enforcement officers discovered multiple bales of suspected cocaine stacked inside warehouses within a secured compound during the operation. Although authorities have not yet released the official quantity or weight of the seized narcotics, unconfirmed estimates place the street value of the suspected drugs at approximately US$500 million.

At the Ministry of Information regular press briefing in Monrovia, the government paraded several plastic bags bearing inscriptions such as “COCO, PP, MP’ CC, and many others.

Information Minister Jerolinmek Piah has described the seizure as the largest quantity of drugs confiscated by the Liberian Government in recent years.

The monetary value of the seized drugs remains unknown.
