๐๐๐๐๐๐๐๐ โ The Ministry of Public Works has mobilized road contractors for a massive dry season construction push, officially declaring October 15 as the start date for all civil works. The initiative aims to fundamentally transform Liberiaโs road infrastructure.
Minister Roland Giddings opened a high-level meeting by praising contractors for their past patriotism, crucial to fulfilling President Boakaiโs โNo Car Will Get Stuck in the Mudโ goal. He urged renewed vigor, reminding them their duty is โto Liberia, but to you as citizens.โ
Deputy Minister Prince Tambah outlined the scope, including road rehabilitation, maintenance, and bridge installations. He cautioned that timelines are strict and excuses will not be considered. The Ministry also announced reformed payment processes to expedite contractor compensation.
In response, contractors pledged their readiness but appealed for timely payments in their contract-stipulated currency to shield against exchange rate losses. With the framework of the Ministryโs โOctopus Strategyโ in place, officials expect maximum results before the rains return.
