The Unity Party (UP) has announced the suspension of 28 members of its National Executive Committee (NEC) for delinquency in performing their party duties.

The decision was reached during a Special Sitting of the NEC held on September 13, 2025, in accordance with the party’s Constitution.

The suspension is a response to the repeated failure of the affected members to attend official NEC meetings and participate actively in party activities, despite numerous reminders.

The UP described these acts as “neglect and complacency” that undermine the trust placed in NEC members and contravene their obligations to contribute to the party’s growth and development.

Citing Articles 16 and 19 of the party Constitution, the NEC resolved that each suspended member will serve a one-month suspension and pay a fine of USD 1,000 to the Unity Party account. Proof of payment is required at the next NEC sitting.

Any member who fails to comply will face expulsion from the committee.

The Special Sitting also called on all delinquent members to settle outstanding party dues within one month.

The party emphasized that these contributions are critical to sustaining party operations, warning that failure to pay dues will result in “serious consequences” in line with party regulations.

The Unity Party reaffirmed its commitment to enforcing discipline, promoting unity, and upholding collective responsibility among its leadership to strengthen the party as an institution that serves the Liberian people.
