IPNEWS: The United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) has donated Information and
Communications Technology (ICT) equipment to the Liberia Petroleum Regulatory Authority (LPRA)
in a significant step toward strengthening institutional capacity and enhancing transparency.
The handover ceremony, held at the LPRA headquarters in Monrovia on Friday, April 4, 2025,
underscores UNDP’s commitment to supporting digital transformation and institutional efficiency
    across Liberia’s public sector.
The equipment valued at $37,520.85 includes computers, servers, routers, printers, data storage
devices, air conditioners, smart televisions, and a projector among others. The action is designed to
improve LPRA’s data management, inter-agency coordination, and regulatory oversight in the
    petroleum sector.
Speaking during the ceremony, Mr. Louis Kuukpen, UNDP Liberia’s Deputy Resident Representative
for Programme stressed the importance of modern digital infrastructure in improving governance
    and service delivery.
“Today’s handover is more than just the transfer of equipment—it is an investment in institutional
capacity and national development. We are confident that the LPRA will leverage this support to
enhance transparency and accountability in Liberia’s petroleum governance sector,” said Mr.
    Kuukpen.
He said such support for the Government of Liberia’s digital development agenda aligns with
UNDP’s Country Programme agenda, which prioritizes inclusive governance, strengthening
institutions, and digital innovation as key pillars of sustainable development.
Receiving the items on behalf of the Authority, its Director General, Marilyn T. Logan, expressed her
deep appreciation for the continued support and commitment to strengthening public institutions,
advancing digitalization of government processes and supporting the professional development of
civil servants through training and technical assistance.
“This generous donation comes at a pivotal moment as the LPRA undertakes efforts to upgrade its
information technology infrastructure systems intended to improve operational efficiency,
strengthen regulatory functions, and elevate the quality of our service,” said Logan.
As Liberia seeks to advance its petroleum sector, strategic partnerships play a critical role in
fostering robust, transparent, and resilient regulatory systems.
