IPNEWS: Tubman University is about to make its first appearance on the global climate stage. Mr. Dominic L. Miller, an instructor in the Elizabeth Davies-Russell College of Education (Department of Secondary Education, Chemistry) and adjunct faculty in the College of Arts and Sciences (Environmental Science), left Liberia today for Belém, Brazil. He will participate in the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) Conference of the Parties (COP30).
This is the first time Tubman University will be represented at a UN Climate Change Conference. Mr. Miller’s participation shows the university’s strong commitment to environmental sustainability, climate education, and global engagement. These priorities have been supported by Dr. Olu Q. Menjay, President/CEO of Tubman University.
This milestone gives Tubman University a chance to enhance its role in climate-related research, build international partnerships, and share the concerns of Liberia’s southeastern region on important global environmental issues.
Dr. Menjay called this moment historic and mission-focused. “Tubman University must not stand on the margins of global conversations,” he said. “Our representation at COP30 shows our dedication to preparing environmentally responsible leaders and ensuring that Maryland County and the southeastern region play a meaningful role in global climate solutions,” he added.
