-CMC Tells UP Chairman Over His Quest To Hold Talks With Them

Citizens Movement for Change (CMC) says they are established to challenge the ‘misrule’ of the forces represented by the Unity Party (UP).

In a press statement issued by Smith M. Toby, Media Communications and Press Director made reference to the chairman of the ruling Unity Party (UP) recent expression of his party’s intention to hold talks with the Citizens Movement for Change (CMC).

Toby said in the release, “Let it be known, Mr. Chairman, that the Citizens Movement for Change was founded with a single objective in mind. To challenge the misrule of the forces represented by the UP.”

According to the party, the CMC was formed in direct response to the Unity Party’s failure to address critical issues facing Liberia.

“Its existence stems from a desire for genuine change rather than political posturing” the release said.

According to the party, with their intention of genuine change as their core purpose, “why would we hold talks with the UP?”.

The CMC said it cannot and will not engage in any dialogue with the UP describing the party as ‘notorious’ for so recklessly betraying Liberians’ dreams and aspirations.

“As a movement, we consider “talks” with the UP a direct contradiction to our vision, sacrifices, and aspirations” the release said.

According to the group, their mission is to disrupt the status quo in which corruption, deception, and abuse are normalized by the UP.

The release said, “Our message to you, Mr. Chairman, is to stop daydreaming and level up. Liberians have long woken up and parted ways with the UP. That reality cannot be changed by wishful thinking.”

According to the release, the statement said of the UP chairman reveals not only that the UP is speculative, but that it has not fully grasped the “why” behind CMC’s existence.
