—- TAKES DECISIVE ACTION FOLLOWING LACC REPORT
IPNEWS: President Joseph Nyuma Boakai, Sr., has made of several key decisions aimed at strengthening public institutions, enhancing service delivery, and promoting accountability across government.
Following the appointment of Cllr. Deweh Gray as Resident Representative of the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) to the Republic of Togo—which created a vacancy within the Ministry of Foreign Affairs—the President has made the following appointments:
1. Ambassador Ethel Davis – Deputy Minister for Foreign Affairs
2. Ms. Kadiatu Diarra Findley – Ambassador-at-Large on the Policy Advisory Council
These appointments support the Administration’s efforts at strengthening Liberia’s diplomatic representation and foreign policy engagement.
Furthermore, President Boakai has announced the following appointments to reinforce administrative and operational efficiency within key public institutions:
1. Mr. Varlee Sanor – Deputy for Operations, Liberia Refugee Repatriation and Resettlement Commission (LRRRC)
2. Mr. Joseph Boye Cooper – Deputy for Administration, Bureau of State Enterprises (BSE)
At the Ministry of Labor, Mr. John O.F. Kangbah, Jr. has been appointed Inspector General of Labor, replacing Mr. Charles S. Brown, who has been relieved of his position.
These appointments are aligned with the President’s goal of improving performance and accountability within public service.
In a related development, the President has relieved Mr. James A.S. Momo of his duties as Superintendent of the Monrovia Consolidated School System (MCSS).
This decision follows a report from the Liberia Anti-Corruption Commission (LACC), which found Mr. Momo liable for the following violations during his tenure, including:
• Failure to comply with Public Procurement and Concessions Commission (PPCC) regulations
• Extortion
• Abuse of office
• Criminal conspiracy
• Facilitation of improper activities in contract awarding.
Mr. Momo has accordingly been instructed to immediately turn over all Government of Liberia properties to the Acting Superintendent and to report to the Ministry of Justice for prosecution.
In the meantime the General Auditing Commission (GAC) is continuing its investigation, findings from which will guide further actions.
President Boakai highlighted his Administration’s focus on integrity, effective governance, and responsible stewardship of public institutions.
