IPNEWS: President Joseph N. Boakai  joins colleague African Presidents and Development Partners in Dares Salam, Tanzania, to address the critical gaps in the energy sector, and to realize Mission 300, geared toward providing sustainable energy for Africa, as the continent transits to clean energy.

Also, President Joseph Boakai is to arrive in Dares Salam, Tanzania, tomorrow, Night, after his first Annual Message as President of Liberia on affairs of the Nation over the last 12 months.

African countries are currently experiencing huge energy deficits, particularly in thermal and hydro-powered plants, leading to cost-push inflation, particularly in the manufacturing sectors.

Homes and offices also experience harsh energy shortages, leading to solar-powered energy distribution, particularly in rural areas.

The Dares Salam Summit, commencing tomorrow, will advance “Mission 300”, aimed at promoting energy access to 300 million by 2030.

The summit, to be hosted by the Tanzanian government, in collaboration with AfDB and the World Bank, will commence with a ministerial summit. Ministers will provide a workable roadmap to deliberate at the Heads of State meeting the following day.

It is expected that the Dares Salam summit will provide a veritable platform to solve critical energy gaps in African countries.

African countries are all currently experiencing acute energy crises, particularly electricity generation and distribution to homes, offices and industries.

The multiplier effects on allied costs are enormous, causing spiral inflation and higher costs of living.

The AfDB and World Bank collaborative intervention, through a private sector-led approach, will tremendously reduce the energy crises Africa is currently experiencing.

A final communique, tagged Dares Salam Declaration, is expected at the two-day summit, to be robustly implemented by all participants at the summit.

Both Presidents Boakai and Bio, who recently referred to the former as “big brother”, stand to benefit tremendously from the Dares Salam Declaration in the final communique on Tuesday signed by African Heads of State.
